One Step Forward?
So, I was happy to know that the little girl got divorced from the older man, and that they got the ball rolling on setting a minimum age on girls getting married. However, this only means it might be a written law, which like most laws… are not obeyed.
Having said that, one of our Judges comes out to say that it’s ok to slap your wife (read which one of them? haha) the one which spends too much money.
This of course contradicts everything that we have been learning about Islam, in which hitting a woman is not a character of a good man, yes it is in the Quran, as an extreme punishment… but we have been taught to never, ever… ever, ever, ever lay a hand on a woman. We do have our share of women beaters, they are everywhere, beating their women like Ike beat Tina… right Chris Brown?
We are in a perpetual one step forward one step back motion. Because when things like this come from a judge… lets just say it is not going to be entertaining (or irritating) like Judge Judy.

I was happy to hear of the divorce but not happy to hear of the age limit thing! It won’t happen my dear! Not in Saudi! And that fatwa stuff, I really don’t know how are they allowed to issue such things! Total and clear opposition to Islam rules as you said!
