Obama in Saudi
President Obama is in Saudi, a courteous visit from the president of the United States to a major player in the region. This is a tradition started by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt aboard the cruiser USS Quincy at Great Bitter Lake in Egypt.
Now, what happens in Riyadh stays in Riyadh, not really public info, but a whole lotta wishing going on, from all sides, because saying there are only two sides… is an understatement.
Americans want their president to ask Saudi to lower the price of oil, yet if you look at the figures of who and how much the US imports oil from, Saudi is not the major supplier, not even 15% comes from Saudi. Middle Eastern oil does not accumulate to 30% of US oil importation.
Arabs want America to quit supporting Israel, and that won’t happen.
Saudi, believe it or not imports some of its gasoline, its a refining issue worldwide, not that of production.
So in the end, I have to speculate as to what this visit, and all the other visits before it signify? who cares? Obama got a big, huge, massive, Run-D.M.C, Slick Rick the ruler gold rope/chain like the one from the eighties. He can’t keep it though, US presidents are not allowed to keep gifts, not even the ornamental pen holder made from the timbers of the Victorian anti-slave ship HMS Gannet.

The Obamas need to hire better international protocol, cross-cultural etiquette, fashion sense, and gift-giving advisors, before they head to Europe, the Middle East, or elsewhere, or receive any more foreign dignitaries.
Canada is the US biggest supplier of oil, water, electricity, and probably natural gas–not to mention software lumber, and dare I add right up there with %/per capita of combat troops (except for Vietnam and Iraq) and peacekeepers (our Prime Minister Lester B Pearson created the UN Blue Berets).
Chiara–waving Maple Leaf Flag in one hand, pouring Maple Syrup with other (making it very difficult to type) LOL
