Back to the Future

Today is the day that Marty McFly arrived in the future after hitting 88mph in a pimped out Delorean in 1985, where are all those cool gadgets they talked about? cars still have wheels, they don’t run on household waste, no hovering skateboards? none of that stuff.

The good old days I remember watching that movie on VHS, now my son does not know what a VHS is, let alone a beta-max :) it is all DVDs and Blu-Ray now, oh and downlading digital movies… on iTunes of course.

However, keep your eyes open, you might see a car disapearing after going 88mph :) but that only happens in the movies… or does it?

  2. my daughter was born when the ipad was announced…can u imagine what will be out there when she is my age?

  3. Loved that movie (at the time of course)! :)

  4. The first was definitely the best, though I saw the second (I think–rather more forgettable).

Nice to see Michael J Fox at his prime, and available on DVD!

I think I once also had a big disagreement with a 16yo French adolescent about the dubbing in French and the Calvin Klein (Pierre Cardin) joke. Ah, yes I did, but I abandoned that highly important topic in deference to her highly important father and her hyper-vigilant mother–both potential bosses. :( LOL :)

In any case, it is a film that doesn’t dub well. Nor do any of the early films of Woody Allen. Some films must be seen in the original!

The role of the Libyan terrorists at/near the end is interesting in light of the HIStory/HYSteria of the time, propagated by now deified President Ronald Reagan (doing a lot of lit theory these days, does it show? ;) :P )
